​​Why The 2026 Ram 1500 BackCountry Could Be Your ”Next Truck”​

The BackCountry package starts with a 2026 Ram 1500 Big Horn, which is positioned between the affordable Warlock and premium Rebel trim levels. The BackCountry takes the Big Horn’s already impressive credentials and adds a one-inch suspension lift, along with heavy-duty shocks for added dampening. Underbody skid plates, front tow hooks, an electronic locking differential, Selec-Speed off-road cruise control, and 32-inch off-road tires are also included with the package, further bolstering BackCountry’s capabilities.  

Visually, the 2026 Ram 1500 BackCountry wears body-color accents and grille surround to distinguish it from the Big Horn and other trim levels. It also wears black-painted lower body trim and front and back bumpers, along with contrasting black fender flares and Satin Black wheels.  

Inside, BackCountry models sport a durable, hard-wearing cabin with black vinyl bucket seats with alloy printed mesh inserts and MOLLE-style storage loops on the front seatbacks. Front and rear all-weather rubber floor mats and BackCountry badging on the passenger-side instrument panel are also included. 

BackCountry models can be ordered with either the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with eTorque driveline, or the standard output 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine. While the BackCountry package can be paired with the Big Horn’s Level 1 or Level 2 equipment groups, given its focus, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the BackCountry itself is only offered as a four-wheel drive crew cab model.
